Eating Solids

At their 6 month checkup, we were told that the twins could begin eating solids. We weren't sure Reagan was ready, but Jax is getting so big and his bottles are just not cutting it anymore. We started with a little rice cereal, but the first couple times we tried to feed him, he was just not interested. Little man LOVES his bottle, so he wanted the same instant gratification and I was just not getting it to him fast enough. The other night, I thought I would give him something with a little more flavor, so we tried some bananas. He loved it! We even got Miss Reags in on the action, but she only took a few tastes of the bananas.

After a couple nights of bananas, I thought I would try a veggie, so I cooked up some butternut squash. It actually tasted great, so I thought it would be a big hit, but Jackson absolutely HATED it. I'm talking lips sealed tight, turned head, gagging! There was no way he was going to eat the squash, so I ended up making him some more bananas to get him to eat something. Since I had the butternut squash, I thought I would give Reagan a little to see if she showed anymore interest in eating. She LOVED it. She ended up eating ALL of the remaining squash. A girl after my own heart. Since then the twins have tried apples as well and it has quickly become one of their favorites. They are getting the hang of this next stage and growing up so fast!

Zoo

Over the holidays, Aaron and I took the twins to the Phoenix Zoo. My Mother-in-law was nice enough to give us a membership to the zoo for Christmas, so we thought we would try it out. Even though the babies are a little young to appreciate it, Aaron and I had a great time. It was nice to get out of the house and enjoy the beautiful weather we have here in December.

6 Months! Growing fast

Wow time sure is flying these days. I can't believe we are already well into February. And speaking of time flying, the twins turned 6 months on February 5. They are truly amazing! I can't believe how fast they have caught up, even after being 2 1/2 months premature. Having twins has been the greatest blessing. It is amazing that even though they are twins, they have completely different personalities. At 6 months, here is what they are up to:

JACKSON
Nicknames: JAX, BUBBA, JAXMAN
Weighs: 19 lbs 13 oz (That's right folks, our little man has caught up to the 6 mo growth chart and is in the 85th percentile)
Likes to:
- Suck his thumb or fist
- Coo to calm his sissy down if she is crying. It's the cutest thing.
- Sit up with the help of the Boppy
- Sleep through the night and nap at least 3 times a day (He's our good sleeper).
- Lay on his back on the floor. He has rolled over once from his back to his tummy, but he prefers to be on his back.
 - Likes to eat! He started to cry after eating a huge bottle, so we have started him on some rice cereal. He is still not sure about this solids thing, but he's a pretty quick learner.

REAGAN
Nicknames: REAGS, STINKS (She's going to hate this when she grows up), PRINCESS
Weighs: 13 lbs
Likes to:
- Stand (with assistance)
- Roll over from tummy to back
- Play with her hands
- Smile. She has the best smile!
- Wear no clothes! She loves to be a "nekky" baby
